National strike action dates formally notified by the CWU
The CWU has formally notified Royal Mail they plan to call on their members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action on, Thursday 1 December, Friday 9 December, Sunday 11 December and Wednesday 14 December 2022.
Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but we cannot fully replace the daily efforts of our frontline workforce. We’ll be doing what we can to keep services running, but we are sorry this planned strike action is likely to cause you some disruption.
Royal Mail and CWU update
Following several months of talks between Royal Mail and Communication Workers Union, including ACAS facilitation, Royal Mail has shared a best and final offer for pay and change. The revised offer includes extensive improvements that have been made during the negotiations with the CWU, including an enhanced pay deal of 9% over 18 months and a number of other concessions to terms and agreements. The offer is subject to agreeing a programme of change with the CWU.
We’re urging CWU leadership to accept the change and pay offer, call off future damaging strike action, for the good of our customers and our people. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience the CWU's continued strike action will cause. We are doing all we can to minimise delays and keep people, businesses and the country connected.

Withdrawal of planned strike dates
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced it is withdrawing planned national strike action on the 12 and 14 November 2022.
New national strike action dates announced by the CWU but have not been formally notified.
The CWU announced they will be notifying Royal Mail they plan to call on their members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 November and for Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 1 December 2022.
We have not yet received formal notification of these new dates. The CWU has to provide 14 days’ notice before they can take any strike action.

ACAS facilitation - Royal Mail and CWU
Royal Mail and CWU have agreed to jointly engaged with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve the current disputes on pay and change. There is a commitment on both sides to reach a resolution. An opening session took place on Tuesday 25 October and further joint sessions have taken place since. On Monday 31 October, Royal Mail proposed a new conditional pay-for-change offer to the Communication Workers Union (CWU) worth 9% for CWU-grade colleagues which includes a 7% salary increase over two years, plus a lump sum payment of 2% of pay this year. The offer is subject to agreeing a programme of change with the CWU. The CWU claim they are open to change but they now need to show it. We’re urging CWU leadership to accept the change and pay offer, call off future damaging strike action, for the good of our customers and our people. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience the CWU's continued strike action will cause. We are doing all we can to minimise delays and keep people, businesses and the country connected.

Planned strike action
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take further strike action. The CWU are required to provide Royal Mail with a minimum of 14 days’ formal notification before taking strike action and we have received this formal notification from the CWU for the following dates:

These three planned strikes affect members who collect, sort, distribute and deliver parcels and letters across the UK. Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but we cannot fully replace the daily efforts of our frontline workforce. We’ll be doing what we can to keep services running, but we are sorry this planned strike action is likely to cause you some disruption. We have been able to recover services quickly after recent CWU strike action and we will continue to focus our efforts on working to get our services back to normal as soon as possible after any future strike action.
Announcement of potential further strike actionThe CWU has also publicly announced further dates for strike action however Royal Mail has not received the required formal notification of these dates. The CWU has communicated they intend to take one day of national strike action on Monday 28 November and then a series of strikes which if they take place, would affect different parts of our operational and administrative network on different days.
